A FILM BY FEBERICO FELLINI – OSCAR® 1956 Best Non-English Language Film.
When Zampanó, a traveling artist, is widowed, he buys Gelsomina, his wife's sister, without the girl's mother offering the slightest resistance. Despite Zampanó's violent and aggressive character, the girl is attracted to the nomadic lifestyle, always on the street (the "strada", in Italian), especially when her owner includes her in the show. Although several of the colorful characters that she meets during her wanderings suggest that she join them, Gelsomina will remain faithful to Zampanó until the last consequences.
