Carmina Burana, Cantiones profanae, Catulli Carmina, Ludi Scaenici, Trionfo di Afrodite - The double CD presents a series of three Cantatas that Carl Orff wrote about ancient texts: “The Trionfos of Aphrodite”, with classical Greek texts, “Catulli Carmina”, with verses from the famous Roman poet Catullus, and the famous collection “Carmina Burana”. Theatrical, extravagant, sharp and with a popular vein (in the literal sense of belonging to the people), the musical language of these works anticipates the pop culture of the 20th century. In this project they are presented in an excellent recording from East Germany thanks to the Berlin Classics archives.
