MANDYCZEWSKI: Lieder, Gesänge and Waltzes [CD de audio] Denise Beck, Christina Baader, Christian Lambour and Mandyczewski

This album presents, in the world's first recording, an extensive anthology of vocal and instrumental works by Eusebius Mandyczewski. Born in Ukraine but active mainly in Germany, Mandyczewski was a composer, musicologist and publisher highly respected in the German music scene between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. It is worth noting that Mandyczewski was one of the most valuable assistants at the famous Grove, for whose extensive encyclopedia he wrote several biographies, including those of Schubert and Beethoven. Madyczewski was a close friend of Johannes Brahms, so it is not surprising that an obvious influence of the style of the great Hamburg composer is found in his works. In particular, in the programmed vocal works it is possible to notice a wonderful lyrical vein, the characteristic romantic atmospheres of Franz Schubert, the iridescent color palette and the elaborate harmonic constructions of Brahms, which together create a listen of sublime beauty.
