J.S. BACH: Orchestral Suites [CD de audio] Consort Of London, J.S.Bach and R. Haydon Clark

Unlike the more famous Brandenburg concertos, the orchestral suites BWV 1066-1069 by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) were relatively rarely recorded, which is a bit surprising, since Suite No. 3 contains the famous Air in D major (better known by its English title Air on a G String). In the four elegant suites, four dance movements follow an overture. Although (compared to other Bach works) the complete cycle is relatively unknown, the orchestral suites contain some of the most charming moments in Bach's instrumental music. The recordings were made at London's Henry Wood Hall on modern instruments taking into account the principles of historically informed performance practice.
