In 1885, a motley group of civilians travels on a stagecoach escorted by cavalry through the Arizona desert. The presence of Apaches in the area, determined to return to the path of war and led by the terrible Gerónimo, poses a serious threat to the passengers. Among the occupants are a prostitute who has been run out of town, an alcoholic doctor, a professional gambler, a pregnant woman, a bank manager fleeing with his clients' money, and a sheriff.
