Fedora, an elderly and reclusive movie star, dies in Paris after being hit by a train. At his funeral, a film producer reflects on the previous two weeks and the part of his death that he may have influenced. He had gone to Corfu to follow her trail, until he reached her private island where she lived with a nurse, an elderly countess and a plastic surgeon who amazingly managed to keep her with a successful youthful appearance. We see her mental stability fail when the producer offers her a script for "Anna Karenina", soon she locks herself in an asylum in Paris and the producer shows up at the hospital with a bruise. When her meditation ends, the countess resumes the narrative and completes Fedora's story.
