Iván (Leopoldo Trieste) and Wanda (Brunella Bovo) are a newly married couple from the provinces who travel to Rome for their honeymoon. But, in addition, both have other, somewhat particular purposes: Iván wants to visit his uncle in the Vatican, where he could get the young couple an audience with Pope Pius XII to bless the union before consummating it. Wanda, for her part, is an inveterate reader of photo-romances and wants to take advantage of her visit to the capital to meet her idol El Sheikh Blanco (Alberto Sordi). Having just arrived at the hotel, Iván will take a nap, but when he wakes up he will be surprised by the disappearance of Wanda, who without intending it has embarked on a true odyssey through the outskirts of Rome... First film directed alone by Federico Fellini that satirizes fame and false appearances, brilliantly represented by Alberto Sordi and Leopoldo Trieste in their respective roles. Giulietta Masina has a brief but important role as Cabiria, anticipating the character who would later star in Las Noches de Cabiria
