The Alcántaras are a middle-class family who reside in the Madrid neighborhood of San Genaro. The family members are: the father, Antonio; the mother, Mercedes; Inés, Toni and Carlitos, the children; and Mercedes' mother, Herminia. Other characters, family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances swarm around them.
