Clavierübung – Part III; Duetto I BWV 802; Duetto II BWV 803; Duetto III BWV 804; Duetto IV BWV 805; Fugue à 5 BWV552/II; Fantasia in Do minore BWV 1121 and much more - The second volume of the comprehensive superba of the organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach curated by Stefano Molardi proposes a very intelligently conceived program not based on the BWV catalog number, but around the analogies (or contrasts) of atmospheres and sensations and based on one of the greatest achievements of the Lipsian Cantor, namely the Dritter Clavierübung, a compilation of chorales structured according to the scheme of a kind of “organ mass”. To perform these achievements of organ literature of all time, Molardi decided to use two historical instruments that Bach could have known or that, at least, are very similar to those he used to play: the Silbermann organ from the Hofkirche in Dresden and the organ Trost of Walthershausen, Thuringia. Molardi displays a free and extremely spontaneous style of performance, paying special attention to rhetorical details, expressive depth and the emotional impact of each piece. This box is accompanied by a booklet that includes extensive and very interesting cover notes written by Molardi and the technical characteristics of the two organs used.
