Quartet No. 3 in A major for strings op. 41 #3; Quintet in E flat major for strings and piano op. 44 - This new recording presents two of Robert Schumann's most famous and enjoyable chamber works. The great composer from Zwickau wrote his first twenty-three opus numbers for solo piano, then dedicated himself to the lieder repertoire and arrived relatively late to the chamber and orchestral production. Although his quintet for strings and piano and his string quartets are firmly linked to the Viennese style of Beethoven and Mendelssohn, Schumann did not fail to insert some elements of his fanciful language, free ideas and often dreamy tones, which reveal characteristics and ideas completely innovative. These works are presented to us in the beautiful interpretation of the Daniel Quartet, one of the best Dutch chamber ensembles today, which in the Quintet op. 44 is accompanied by the pianist Klára Wurtz, who can boast of several recordings of Robert Schumann's works for solo piano, greeted with unanimous enthusiasm by the specialized press around the world. Daniel Quartet (Quirine Scheffers, violin I; Misha Furman, violin II; Itamar Shimon, viola; Joanna Pachucka, cello)
