Despite having been recorded in 1994, this edition of Bach's violin concertos has not lost an ounce of its brilliant freshness. The absolute protagonist of this masterful performance is Thomas Zehetmair, who since his astonishing debut at the Salzburg Festival at the age of 16 has built an extraordinary international career playing alongside all the most famous orchestras and conductors in the world and establishing himself in the empyrean of the greatest virtuosos of our time. His open artistic personality, completely alien to any conventionalism, also led him to be interested in philological practice and original instruments, and his interpretations of baroque classics demonstrate a deep adherence to the styles of the 18th century, which combines perfectly with his innate musicality and his exciting Spielfreude (joy of making music). On this album, Zehetmair is accompanied by the Amsterdam Bach Soloists, an excellent ensemble made up of some early parts of the Concertgebouw Orchestra, who share his love and enthusiasm for the baroque repertoire.
