This disc represents the second volume of an unprecedented publishing project, which is the first complete recording of the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, the largest collection of keyboard works from the Elizabethan and Jacobean era surviving to the present day, comprising more than 300 pieces. of a very heterogeneous nature written by some of the most famous composers of the time, such as John Bull, William Byrd, Orlando Gibbons and Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. The program of this album focuses on Byrd's production and includes, among other things, the famous Walsingham variations and the variations on the popular tune The Carman's Whistle, works characterized by great virtuosity and extraordinary pleasantness.
