In Bartók's early works, the influence of Liszt and Richard Strauss is evident. In the early 1900s, the young composer had studied many of Strauss' scores in an attempt to compose an E-flat symphony. Little by little, the music of his native country, Hungary, began to influence his music, as can be heard in the Violin Sonata in E minor. József Balog, Piano
