PUJOL: Historias sin Palabras-Torino [CD de audio] Giorgio Mirto (guitar) and Pujol

The Argentine guitarist and composer Máximo Diego Pujol (1957) comes from the Villa Pueyrredón neighborhood, in Buenos Aires. There, Pujol graduated as a senior guitar teacher at the Conservatory. He studied the instrument with the legendary guitarists Abel Carlevaro, Alfredo Vincente Gascón and Horacio Caballos. The music of Astor Piazzolla is present in Pujol's work: tango and milonga are used as a folkloric basis in his virtuoso works of art, always rhythmic and pleasant. Unspoken Stories is a cycle of twelve pieces inspired by the Twelve Pilgrim Tales by Gabriel García Márquez. The individual pieces have poetic names such as Dreams Are Real or The Eternal Rose. The guitar piece Color Sepia tells the story of old family photos (here you could also see García Márquez as inspiration), Torino is a fluid and wonderful milonga, a dance sung on guitar. Guitarist and composer Giorgio Mirto is artistic director of the Six Ways Guitar Festival in his hometown of Turin. Mirto and guitarist Victor Villadangos recorded all of Pujol's guitar duets for Brilliant Classics as a world first recording.
