In the 1970s, two young women are forced to face their pregnancies alone. One of them, Violeta, spends the last months of pregnancy in the foster home of a religious congregation in Madrid, while the other, Conchita, temporarily resides in a crib apartment run by a high-society woman from Bilbao. Once the gestation period is complete, both end up giving birth in the same clinic where, under different circumstances, they will lose their babies at the time of delivery.
