Planned by the Soviet Central Committee to coincide with the celebrations of the twentieth anniversary of the failed Russian Revolution of 1905, this film was directed by a young 27-year-old filmmaker named Sergei Eisenstein, who conceived the entire film in a single-page script. and that it was also part of a series of 8 films that tried to narrate most of the revolutionary actions. The film begins with the refusal of the crew of the Battleship Potemkin to eat spoiled, maggot-ridden meat. The mutiny develops and its leader, Vakulinchuk, is shot by a young officer. The higher-ranking officers have been dethroned and when the Potemkin arrives in Odessa, people appear everywhere and want to know the cause of the dead sailor and the reason for the beginning of the acts of rebellion.
