Product Description 1943 on the Russian front. German troops are in full withdrawal from the Taman Peninsula. Veteran Rolf Steiner is promoted to sergeant after successfully carrying out a dangerous mission. At the same time Captain Stransky, an arrogant upper-class Prussian, obsessed with obtaining an Iron Cross at all costs, is assigned as the new commander of Steiner's platoon. After a bloody confrontation, the Germans, bravely led by Lieutenant Meyer, manage to repel the Soviets. The lieutenant dies in combat and for his feat Colonel Brandt asks that he be awarded the Iron Cross. Stransky sees his opportunity and tries to take the credit and the decoration at the expense of the deceased and to do so he calls Steiner as a witness. But the sergeant refuses to participate in this fraud. Synopsis 1943. Eastern Front during World War II. After the defeat at Stalingrad against the Russian army, the German army retreats. A squad led by Sergeant Steiner fights to survive during the inhospitable Russian winter. A noble and proud Prussian officer requests transfer to that area to earn merits and obtain the Iron Cross, the highest decoration of the German army.
