Venice, 1763: the writer Lorenzo da Ponte (Lorenzo Balducci) leads a life dedicated to vices and pleasures. After his past as a priest, he is exiled to Vienna for spreading verses against the Church and the power of the Inquisition. Supported by his friend and mentor, Giacomo Casanova (Tobias Moretti), Lorenzo da Ponte is introduced to Viennese society, where he meets Salieri, the king's favorite composer, and a newcomer musician named WA Mozart (Lino Guanciale). Discovering here an opportunity to destroy Mozart's rise, Salieri deceives Mozart by hiring this unknown libertine as his librettist. But, his own nature and his sentimental adventures in Vienna only nourish his inspiration, giving rise to one of Mozart's most audacious and far-reaching compositions: Don Giovanni.
