When legions of monstrous creatures, called Kaiju, begin to emerge from the sea, a war begins that will end millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for endless years. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon has been designed: huge robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers provide little defense against the tireless Kaiju.
