"Dear Wendy" is the story of Dick, an 18-year-old boy who lives in Estherslope, a sad mining town in the Midwest. The inhabitants consider him a weirdo. One day, by chance, he finds a small revolver to which he feels very attracted despite his declared pacifism. She decides to call him Wendy. He soon attracts other young misfits from the town to form a club called "The Dandies." The unity of the group makes them feel stronger. Everyone has a weapon to which they have given a name and about which they know everything that can be known. But they have sworn that they will never remove it. It is the first and most important rule of "The Dandies". However, even a Dandy can get into trouble. After all, rules are made to be broken.
