LA 'S BOX (LULÚ) was made from a script written by Pabst himself and Ladislao Bajad based on two plays by Frank Wedeking. It was the film that brought fame to its actress, Louise Brooks, who would since then be identified with the main character of the film, Lulú, an uninhibited, sensual and reckless girl, who goes from being the lover of an important politician to exercising prostitution. Due to its controversial subject matter and the arrival of talkies, this film was a failure upon its release, but shortly afterwards it was known as the masterpiece that it is. The copy we present has been restored and returned to its original footage by ZDF in collaboration with ARTE and has a soundtrack composed by Peer Raben.
