Hogg escapes death thanks to a leader of the Chinese resistance, Jack Chen, and, in his escape, ends up taking refuge in the Huang Shi orphanage. With the Japanese army getting closer, Hogg tries to save the sixty children from the orphanage by embarking on a grueling journey through mountains and deserts, accompanied by Jack and an American nurse. Along the way they will discover the true meaning of love, responsibility and courage.
