In an unnamed Middle Eastern oil-rich country, a young prince named Nasir Al-Subaai has shaken the norm by giving the rights to drill for natural gas to a Chinese company, rather than Connex, an American company that already had the rights. . In order to recover its income, Connex is seeking a merger with another Texas company, Killen, which has recently acquired the rights to mine within Kazakhstan.
