For the first time, thanks to this new documentary, we can visually tour the interior of the 17 monasteries founded by Saint Teresa of Jesus. She dedicated the last 20 years of her life to planting Spain with these little dovecotes of the Virgin where her Discalced Carmelites could live, with great seclusion, their contemplative vocation. In Ávila she founded the convent of San José in 1562, planning to stay there forever, but five years later God asked her... to continue founding. These unpublished images reveal to us the environment that surrounded the Carmelites of the 16th century who knew their founder, and where her daughters still live today, faithful to her charisma. Crossing the closure of her monasteries with Teresa's hand, we feel the captivating personality of this woman in love with Jesus Christ. After four and a half centuries, in the 17 monasteries presented here, and in another 800 scattered around the world, the Carmelites continue to silently offer their lives for their male brothers. Teresa wrote about their foundations to her beloved Father Gracián, in December 1576, that the Pope should be informed of how these houses are mirrors of Spain.
