Touch 1-8; Passacaglia; Ciaccona; Nova Cyclopeais Harmonica; the organ of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta de Giove (Terni) - Prototype of the cosmopolitan composer, Georg Muffat (1653-1704) visited all the countries of Europa at a time when passports had not yet been invented, obtaining musical positions of great prestige in Strasbourg, Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Rome and, finally, in the prestigious chapel of the Archbishop of Salzburg. Like a musical sponge, Muffat avidly absorbed all the musical styles of his day, familiarizing him with Italian melodiousness, the art of French ornamentation, and rigorous German contrapuntal writing. Muffat published a collection of works for organ that enjoyed great fame among musicians of the time. Entitled Apparatus musico-organisticus, this collection contains a series of toccatas, ciacconas and passacaglias of great formal refinement and, from a stylistic point of view, it can be considered a true sum of all the technical and compositional resources of the last years of the 17th century. Considered one of the best Italian organists, Adriano Falcioni offers us a very authoritative interpretation of the pieces contained in this collection, confirming that he has absolute mastery of both the complex writing of Muffat and the executive practice of the 17th century.
