Maximo Diego Pujol, originally from Buenos Aires, was born in 1957. His music is marked by the sounds, colors, smells and folklore of his hometown. Men playing cards, trees shading roadsides, and tango all merge into Pujol's descriptive music. Bach had already incorporated popular and dance music into his artistic compositions. Chopin also wrote polonaises for the concert hall. Bartók, Kodaly and Vaughan-Williams played with folk idioms and populist musical traditions at a high compositional level. And Pujol also brings traditional Argentine milonga, danombe and chacarera rhythms to the world of classical forms. He is considered a true successor to Astor Piazzolla.

Der Argentinier Maximo Diego Pujol stammt in Buenos Aires, wo er 1957 geboren wurde. Seine Musik ist von den Geräuschen, den Farben, den Gerüchen und der Folklore seiner Heimatstadt geprägt. Karten play Männer, Schatten spendende Baum-Alleen am Straßenrand und der Tango, all das verschmilzt in der bildhaften Musik von Pujol.
Schon Bach hatte Volks- und Tanzmusik in seinen kunstvollen Kompositionen verarbeitet. Auch Chopin schrieb Polonaisen für den Konzertsaal. Bartók, Kodaly und Vaughan-Williams spielten mit folkloristischen Idiomen und musikalisch-populistischer Tradition auf einem hohen kompositorischen Niveau. Und auch Pujol führt traditionelle argentinische Rhythmen des Milonga, Dandombe und Chacarera in die klassische Formenwelt ein. Er gilt als wahrer Nachfolger von Astor Piazzolla.
