The program of this fascinating album includes ricercares, fantasies and a large number of dances, which evoke the suggestive atmosphere of the palaces and courts for which these works were probably written with elegant and aristocratic tones. The lutenist Sandro Volta is considered one of the most authoritative interpreters of this repertoire, he develops an intense musicological activity and has published several publications of great interest. On this album, Volta plays a magnificent six-string lute by Ivo Magherini.
