Molter was one of the first composers to write for the clarinet. Mozart's clarinet concerto is accompanied by the delightful concerto for flute and harp and his four horn concertos. The Finnish Crusell and the Bohemian Krommer were friends of Beethoven and their concertos are superb examples of clarinet concertos from the early Romantic period.
