Live at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, EMI Classics has signed a partnership with the Metropolitan Opera in New York, whose first 6 productions will be released on DVD this fall. All were filmed in HD with a 15-camera rig, including computer-controlled crane or rail devices. This says the quality of production that will make this edition of the Met a reference in the field. A sample could be seen during The Regiment's Daughter broadcast from the Met with Natalie Dessay on April 26, 2008. After 3 first releases in September, here are 3 new productions, including a sumptuous Puccini's Bohème with Angela Gheorghiu, in the directed by Franco Zeffirelli, broadcast live in 20 cinemas in France on April 5, 2008 and seen by almost 10,000 spectators. The La Bohème DVD will be labeled as a reference to this screening. Always by Puccini, an obligatory Puccini anniversary, Manon Lescaut will be played by another absolute star, the soprano Karita Mattila and Britten's Peter Grimes takes us to the absolute masterpiece of the -rare- English lyrical repertoire.
