This first album dedicated to the production of Archduke Rodolfo Giovanni d'Asburgo-Lorraine presents several works in world premiere. Archduke Rudolf is remembered by music history for having been a friend, student and patron of Beethoven. The titan of Bonn dedicated fourteen works of great importance to this cultured and refined aristocrat, including the Missa Solemnis, the Concerto for Emperor and the Hammerklaviersonate. Given this background, it is not surprising that there are Beethovenian elements present in Rodolfo's works, especially in the parts for clarinet (his favorite instrument), including some daring harmonic touches and a very pleasant and attractive atmosphere, reminiscent of the era in which Beethoven was a young virtuoso with great hopes and the king of the most refined salons in the capital of Burgos. These works are presented to us in the magnificent interpretation of Luigi Magistrelli, one of the best Italian clarinetists and tireless champion of lesser-known repertoires. Claudia Bracco, piano; Carlo Bernava, second piano.
