THE MAN WHO KILLED LIBERTY BALANCE
”THIS IS THE WEST, SIR. When legend becomes fact, print legend.”
John Ford, a director whose name is synonymous with “western,” assembled an ideal cast: James Stewart, John Wayne, Vera Miles and Lee Marvin. THE MAN WHO KILLED LIBERTY VALANCE, one of the greatest classics of cinema, tells the story of the border village of Shinbone, a city that lives in fear of the cruel gunman Liberty Valance (Marvin). James Stewart is the clumsy and charming lawman determined to cleanse the beautiful place of thugs and to do so he will have an ally who will be John Wayne, the quintessential star of the genre in his most memorable performance. But in addition to the danger that Valance poses, Stewart and the tough Wayne will also find themselves in love with the same woman (Vera Miles).
