Product Description Classic German silent film that tells the legend of a statue: the Golem. In the 16th century, in the Prague ghetto, lived Rabbi Löw, magician and master in the art of necromancy. To prevent the expulsion of the Jews, ordered by Emperor Rudolph II, he modeled the clay figure of the Golem and invoked the spirit of Astaharot to grant him life. However, when the Jews manage to stay in the city, and the Golem saves the emperor's life, the rabbi tries to invalidate his spell and take his life because he has already accomplished his task. But when a servant, blinded by love, returns it to him, the clay figure escapes human influence and becomes a threat. This masterpiece of expressionism, a clear precedent of the myth of Frankenstein , is surely the first great film about monsters in the history of cinema, because two other versions, also by Paul Wegener with the Golem as the protagonist, have unfortunately been lost forever. Synopsis The Golem, a clay statue molded by an ancient magician, is brought to life in medieval Prague by Rabbi Loew and protects the people of the ghetto from government tyranny.
