After being raped, a young deaf-mute servant gives birth to a seemingly normal child. But as the child grows, he begins to show signs of strange behavior; Their uncontrollable reactions during full moon nights announce a terrifying metamorphosis.
León, a six-year-old boy who lives in a small Spanish town at the end of the 18th century, suddenly falls ill. The doctor who examines him discovers that the bullets that a shepherd fired the night before at the wolf that was attacking his sheep are lodged in his body. León's mother, a deaf-mute servant who was raped by a sinister beggar and died in childbirth, is raised by his adoptive parents, preventing the curse that causes him to turn into a wolf on full moon nights, allowing him to commit other atrocities. Years later, having become a young man as strong and muscular as he is restless, León begins to work in a neighboring town for a winemaker whose daughter, Cristina, he falls in love with. The relative peace of his feelings during the previous years is disturbed and, literally, the beast inside him re-emerges, filling the region with blood and terror.
