The tragedy of the fate of the North American Indians is now well known. Most of that race was wiped out in the last century. Those who remained, in a world totally foreign to them, sought work in the cities or remained on the reservations, with very little to do except melancholy remember their past. Michael, a young teenager, has emigrated to the city where his widowed mother works. His father died of a drunkenness and his grandfather, a former chief, lives on a reservation. Michael reluctantly returns to the reservation, experiencing a gradual change of mood, from contempt and hatred, to esteem and love for 'the old'.
