The protagonist of this novel is the creator of the Rangers, Officer Rogers, who in the United States is one of the most famous figures of the wars against the French and Indians, but the attention is also focused on Langdon Towne, a handsome man who aims to capture the ways of life of the indigenous people before they disappear. Through the painter's eyes the reader witnesses the life experience of Rogers, who is determined to find a passage to the Pacific through the northwest and to do so he undertakes an impressive expedition that exposes him and his men to the most exciting adventures. Through this story, issues such as the customs of the indigenous people, the tempestuous character of Rogers and the harshness of the environment come to the fore and contribute to giving density to an exciting historical adventure novel.
