Bill (Aaron Eckhart) feels like he's from another planet every time he's around his wife's family. His wife Jessica (Elizabeth Banks) is lovely, but she can't say the same for her father and brother, who own the bank where Bill works. The family gathers to celebrate the inauguration of the new chapel of a private school. At one point during the celebration, Bill ends up tricked into a volunteer program to mentor one of the school's students. The boy Bill will have to tutor is a rich and spoiled 15-year-old boy (Logan Lerman). After discovering his wife's infidelities with Chip (Timothy Olyphant), a TV presenter, Bill will be devastated. And disparaging treatment from your boss won't help much. The boy will accuse him of being a pushover and enduring too much humiliation. Although Bill hates to admit it, the young smartass is right. Bill will try to change his destiny as a failure with the help of his mentor and Lucy (Jessica Alba), a beautiful Victoria's Secret employee.
