

Pepita (María León), a young woman from Cordoba of rural origin, travels to Madrid, in the middle of the post-war period, to be close to her sister Hortensia (Inma Cuesta) who is pregnant and in prison. Pepita meets Paulino (Marc Clotet), a Valencian from a bourgeois family, who fights alongside his brother-in-law in the mountains of Madrid. Despite the difficulty of their relationship, they fall passionately in love. Hortensia is tried and sentenced to death. The execution will not take place until after delivery. Pepita tries by all means and in all instances to condone the execution. He goes to the prison every day with the aim of having Hortensia's future son given to him, begging that he not be put up for adoption or placed in an orphanage...
