Inside the African hut it is humidly hot. María's face contorts with pain as she has another contraction. Outside, her husband, Patrick, anxiously awaits the long-awaited birth of their son. The old midwife picks up the child, but when she sees his little face, the smile turns into an expression of horror. Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic, Steve Woodman, a CIA officer working for the US Department of Agriculture, is gathering evidence about the illegal manufacture and use of Agent Orange, a chemical used during the Vietnam War to Destroy the jungle growth and discover enemy troops. His investigations take him to Africa and Clive Hyde. Steve suspects that it is the Hyde chemical plant that supplies the sprayed “fertilizer” for the crops that sugar cane farmers use “to make it grow taller.” The same sugar cane fields where Patrick works. And when he discovers Patrick and Maria's disfigured son, he sets out to put an end to Hyde's illicit operation, leading him into an inexorable nightmare of hatred, violence and murder – a nightmare from which he can never seem to wake up.
