Life couldn't be sweeter for Garfield, the cat everyone adores. Leveraging a comfortable couch in front of the television, eating a large piece of lasagna (his favorite food) and taunting his distraught owner, Jon (Breckin Meyer), Garfield feels like the master of his world. When Jon takes Garfield to the office of beautiful veterinarian Liz Wilson (Jennifer Love Hewitt), she hands Jon an enthusiastic, panting creature that wags its tail gamely and represents everything Garfield hates in life. Garfield thus meets Odie, an adorable and not very intelligent dog. The prankster cat, for the first time in his seven lives, is speechless. Naive Odie tries to catch the tail until he ends up getting dizzy, crashes into walls and barks for no reason; all to the irrepressible delight of Jon, who welcomes Odie into his house full of enthusiasm. Odie turns Garfield's perfect world upside down. Garfield's Solution: Get out, you damn mutt. When the unfortunate dog disappears into the evil clutches of local celebrity Happy Chapman (Stephen Tobolowsky), one might think that Garfield would be left in glory. But, unfortunately for him, he feels responsible for the fate of others. With unusual and unexpected energy, a lot of courage and great generosity, Garfield manages to abandon his lazy life and take action. He finds himself on the most improbable of impossible missions: Save Odie.
