In the south of Soviet Russia, there is a city that has become a kind of ghetto, an enclave that houses a mix of multiethnic gangs fighting each other and made up of dangerous outlaws. In this city, two ten-year-old children, Kolima and Gararin, members of a gang of Siberian exiles, grow up together as inseparable friends. Their education is also unique in that it consists almost exclusively of mastering the illegal arts: theft, vandalism, and the use of weapons.
