Melanie, a rich and snobbish young woman from San Francisco's high society, meets lawyer Mitch Brenner at a bird shop, who has gone to buy a birthday present for her sister Kathy. Mitch, who learns about Melanie's crazy life from the press, treats her contemptuously and leaves the store, leaving her quite irritated. She, who is not used to being treated like this, orders some parakeets and takes them to the lawyer's house, but Mitch has gone to spend the weekend at his mother's house. Then, Melanie decides to go to Bodega Bay and show up at the Brenners' house under the pretext of giving the parakeets to Kathy. As soon as she arrives, the birds, crazy, begin to savagely attack the local inhabitants. The situation worsens as the hours progress.
When Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) arrives in Bodega Bay in search of suitable bachelor Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor), she is inexplicably attacked by a seagull. Suddenly thousands of birds fly around the place, preying on the children and its inhabitants with a series of terrible attacks. Soon Mitch and Melanie find themselves embroiled in a fight for their lives facing a dangerous, inexplicable and unstoppable force in one of the most terrifying Hollywood films about nature enraged.
