Paul Averhoff was once a legend as a marathon runner. Now he is over 70 years old and lives with his wife Margot in a nursing home where to pass the time he can only choose between joining the choir or crafts classes... and he can't take it anymore! As therapy, he puts on his old sneakers and, to the astonishment of his colleagues and caregivers, begins to run daily through the residence park ready to prepare for the Berlin Marathon and repeat old feats. With his efforts he achieves the unconditional support of almost all his residents. Despite everything, the circumstances of his age make him fall into a great depression. He will have to find the strength to recover his hope, achieve his goal and fulfill the promise he has made to Margot.
