Hildy is a journalist who is about to leave her job to go to New York. To prevent his best reporter from leaving, the newspaper's director commissions him to do the report of his life: the case of a man sentenced to death who has escaped from prison. First film adaptation of Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur's play "The Front Page." The second adaptation ("New Moon", 1940) was directed by Howard Hawks.
