From visionary new director Gareth Edwards ( Monsters ), comes a powerful story about the power of human courage and reconciliation in the face of the titanic forces of nature, when the astonishing Godzilla rises to restore balance at a time when the humanity is defenseless.
The film stars an international cast led by Aaron Taylor-Johnson ( Kick-Ass ), Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe ( The Last Samurai and Inception ), Elizabeth Olsen ( Martha Marcy May Marlene ), Oscar winner Juliette Binoche ( The English Patient and Cosmopolis ), fellow Oscar nominees Sally Hawkins ( Blue Jasmine ) and David Strathairn ( Good Night and Good Luck and The Bourne Legacy ), and multi-Emmy and Golden Globe winner Bryan Cranston ( Argo and the television series Breaking Bad ).
Edwards directed Godzilla based on a script by Max Borenstein. The story is by David Callaham and is based on the character of "Godzilla", created by TOHO CO., LTD, the company that owns it.
