Jake Vig (Edward Burns) is a clever and elegant conman who has just swindled, with the help of his team, thousands of dollars from the unsuspecting Lionel Dolby. His collaborators are Gordo (Paul Giamatti), Shills Miles (Brian Van Holt), Big Al and two corrupt Los Angeles Police Department officers, Lloyd Whitworth (Donal Logue) and Omar Manzano (Luis Guzmán). When Jake discovers that Lionel is the accountant for eccentric underworld boss Winston King (Dustin Hoffman), he decides to pay the gangster back. Immediately afterwards, he organizes the biggest coup of his life: the victim will be Morgan Gillette, a banker very well connected to organized crime. But Jake is missing one piece to complete the team: the daring pickpocket Lily (Rachel Weisz), whose mission will be to carry out a complex plan that includes business loans, creative accounting, bank transfers and foreign accounts.
