World War II. The British Navy is threatened by the German battleship Tirpitz. With great firepower, especially its eight 381 mm guns with a range of up to 34 kilometers, this battleship could easily wipe out its maritime supply lines, this being a risk that England cannot tolerate. Sheltered in the Trondheim Fjord, Norway, it is impossible to attack it with a chance of success. But Commander Fraser (John Mills) proposes an ingenious and risky plan.
