Mark and David are friends and experienced war photographers and find themselves capturing images of war-torn Kurdistan. Mark is very ambitious and wants to continue the fighting for a few more days, looking for the photo of the year, but David is fed up with the dust, hopelessness and violence and leaves him to return home to his pregnant wife. When Mark returns home bloodied and bruised, he is shocked, but initially unconcerned, to learn that David has not made it home. Elena, Mark's wife, is worried about both of them. Mark is exhausted, disoriented and unable to resume his old life in Dublin.
