NO ONE WILL TALK ABOUT US WHEN WE HAVE DEAD – A film by Agustín Díaz Yanes.
It includes a 32-page booklet with texts by Xavi Sánchez Pons about the Director and the Production.
Mexico DF Gloria Duque (Victoria Abril) is a prostitute who has hit rock bottom. During the sale of an important drug stash, he witnesses the murder of two police officers at the hands of gangsters. Before dying, one of the police manages to give him a diary with the addresses where the mafia launders its money all over the world. Gloria manages to flee and is deported to Spain, where she left a long time ago fleeing her paraplegic husband and a poor and boring life.
Her mother-in-law (Pilar Bardem), who distrusts her, demands that she look for a job. But Gloria decides to use the valuable information in the diary to fix her life on the fast track. What she doesn't know is that a relentless killer, played by Federico Luppi, is looking for her to recover the notebook and then kill her.
One of the best Spanish films of '95. It won most of the Goya awards, and won the Special Jury Prize at the San Sebastián Film Festival. A thriller directed with effectiveness and solidity. Without staying just in the action, it delves deeper through an intelligent script, written by Díaz Yanes himself, into characters on the brink of the abyss. Victoria Abril's interpretation is masterful. Pilar Bardem and Luppi are sensational. Intense, dramatic and shocking.
