With the subtitle of Nobody Hears You PERFUME OF VIOLETS is the first installment of a planned Trilogy of Evil that is to be completed with Hands Free (Nobody Talks to You) and The Girl in the Stone (Nobody Sees You). With this trilogy MARYSE SISTACH and her husband, the producer, director and screenwriter JOSÉ BUIL with whom she has worked since 1991, wish to expose the consequences of human lack of communication at the dawn of the 21st century. The three scripts make up a dramatic chronicle about the violence carried out by young people trapped in the ethical crisis of contemporary Mexico.




The film is based on a real event reported in the Mexican press in 1985, a news story that occurred in Santo Domingo de Coyoacán, which involved two teenage girls who, after stealing a perfume, found themselves involved in a situation of sexual violence. This fact, which impressed the director for a long time, constitutes the inspiration material for the film, along with the chilling fact that 125,000 rapes occur annually in Mexico.
