Arturo Lempeur (Belmondo) is a rich and capricious young man who, tired of the life he leads, tries unsuccessfully to commit suicide again and again, while taking a trip around the world on his sailboat. Fed up with his failed attempts, upon arriving in China he decides to take out an insurance policy whereby, in the event of accidental death, two million dollars would be shared between his fiancée and his best friend, Mr. Goh (Valéry Inkijinoff), who insures Arturo. which within a month will cause him to suffer an unexpected accident. But he soon regrets his decision, and accompanied by his faithful assistant Leon (Jean Rochefort) and Alejandrina (Ursula Andrews), a cabaret singer whom he has just met, he will find himself immersed in a fun and wild race to survive.

Tony Maréchal is a vocational seducer who, showing a total lack of scruples, has dedicated himself to seducing tons of ladies, even preaching that there is no woman who can resist him. To prove this statement, while in Cannes, Tony sets himself a difficult challenge: seduce the Baroness Minna von Strasshofer.
